Rita Beaubien

artist

Rita said her door was inspired by her husband who recently passed away. He loved all the Michigan seasons, especially the fall. A cardinal often appears near Rita and her family. She says she believes that cardinal is her husband letting "us know he is near." Painting a cardinal on her door was something that just felt right.

One side of the door is the Manitou passage in the summer. The other side of the door is the earrings worn by the main character, Tanjiro, in the anime Demon Slayer. The design itself is based upon Hanafuda Japanese playing cards. P.S. Put your night vision to use to check out some secret glow in the dark designs.

painted by Jason and Tammy Balk

"The front of the door brings together two things that are very important to us at Marble. One, our love for God. Two, our love for our neighbors. Scripture and Mr. Rogers have inspired us to work towards being good neighbors to everyone in our neighborhood/community. As for the back, we want everybody to be our neighbor and is why we ask the question, “Won’t you be our neighbor?”"
